Corrections, Retractions, and Editorial Notices
AABNER is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal has clear policies for handling errors, ethical concerns, or other issues that may arise post-publication.
Corrections
Corrections are issued to address minor errors that do not invalidate the results or conclusions of the article.
Process: Authors, readers, or editors may report errors to the Editor-in-Chief; the journal evaluates the issue and consults the authors if necessary; a formal Correction Notice is published and linked to the original article.
Examples may include typographical errors, minor data misreporting, figure labeling mistakes.
Retractions
Retractions are issued when an article contains serious errors, misconduct, or ethical breaches that invalidate the findings.
Process: Allegations are investigated according to the journal’s Investigation of Misconduct policy; authors and, if appropriate, institutions are consulted; if retraction is warranted, a Retraction Notice is published, stating the reason for the retraction and linking to the original article.
Retractions are indexed and permanently associated with the article to maintain the scholarly record.
Expressions of Concern
Published when there are serious questions about the integrity of an article but the investigation is not yet complete.
The notice alerts readers to potential issues while investigations are ongoing. Once the investigation concludes, a Correction, Retraction, or Resolution Notice will replace or accompany the Expression of Concern.
Transparency and Documentation
All corrections, retractions, and notices are documented and published promptly. The journal ensures that readers are informed, and the scholarly record remains accurate and reliable.
